“My mother, she is beautiful, softened at the edges and tempered with a spine of steel. I want to grow old and be like her.” —Jodi Picoult
Introduction:
Ah, Mother's Day, the one day of the year where moms everywhere anticipate a well-deserved break, a moment of appreciation, and perhaps a few uninterrupted minutes of peace. But as any mom knows, the reality often falls short of the dream. So, dear moms with little ones underfoot, let's navigate through the tongue-in-cheek landmine of what NOT to do on this hallowed day of maternal recognition. Grab your favorite beverage (whether it's coffee, tea, or something stronger - no judgment here), and let's explore the things you should steer clear of on Mother's Day, unless you're eager to test the limits of your patience and sanity.
There are 7 things you I never do on Mother’s Day, and neither should you!
1. Dishes
2. Vacuuming/sweeping
3. Cleaning of any kind
4. Cooking or baking of any kind
5. Laundry - sorting or cleaning
6. Grocery shopping
7. Chauffeuring of any kind
I do not do those things ever on Mother’s Day. I have been doing this since my eldest daughter was 6.
I take the freakin day OFF. I am QUEEN mother for the day and they are my servants.
Guess how I pull this off every year????
I simply don’t do them. The first year I did this, I gave fair warning - more like only 2 days cuz I was having a meltdown, lol.
And sometimes I leave and go somewhere lovely while they prepare whatever meal they wanna fix me.
Tip for success: My husband gets the same royal treatment on father’s day! (Or however he envisions it - his wishes are granted as well).
So try that! And tell me how it went.
